Ποδηλατώντας στη Θεσσαλονίκη – Cycling in Thessaloniki

Some average (not really bad) cycling trips in Thessaloniki. The date and time at the bottom left are wrong, I hadn’t configured the time on the camera.

  1. Hello,
I found your video very interested, since I am planning to visit Thessaloniki and have not decided yet if I should take the bikes or not.
It will be our first time in Thessaloniki and trying to get the best of it!
We are a family of 4 (small group :-), and all of us like using our bikes to discover new places. Kids are 12 and 8.
People tell me that apart the pedestrian way next to the sea, there aren’t cycling ways in Thessaloniki…
But in your videos things seems different! I think that going around with our bicycles will be an excellent way to get to know the city!
I ‘ d love to hear your opinion and maybe some advices!
    Thanks,
    Vasilis

    1. Hi and thanks for your comment! Out of curiosity, how did you discover my blog? I haven’t really advertised it 🙂

My video is from a few years ago, and the cycling infrastructure in Thessaloniki has unfortunately gotten worse. Cycling infrastructure has always been inadequate at the first place – there are a few bike lanes, but not really enough to go anywhere useful. Sometimes there are cars parked all over some bike lanes. As an adult, you can go around the city even when there’s not a bike lane (or when it’s simply not usable), it should be pretty much fine as long as you’re visible, predictable, and calm. However, I really wouldn’t advise you to bring especially your 8-year-old anywhere outside the big bike lane by the seaside.

PS: sorry for the delay in answering!
